Cholevine Beetles of the Genus Cholevinus (Coleoptera, Leiodidae, Cholevinae) from North East Asia Since Pleistocene Till the Present. Perkovsky E. E., Kuzmina S. A. - The paper deals with an expanded explanation and confirmation of the one generic and two specific Arctic cholevine synonymies proposed earlier (Perkovsky, 1999). High variability within apterous cholevine beetle Cholevinus sibiricus (Jeannel) from Arctic Asia is explained by the "adaptive compromise" principle (sensu Rasnitsyn, 1987). A detailed illustrated description of Cholevinus kryzhanovskii Perkovsky from the middle Anadyr is given for the first time.

Peculiarities of Ecology and Morphology of Pseudanodonta (Bilalvia, Unionidae) in the Fauna of Ukraine. Melnychenko R. K., Janovich L. N., Korniushin A. V. - The data on fauna, ecological preferences and biology of species of the genus Pseudanodonta from Ukraine are summarised. Quantitative data (abundance and biomass) and morphometry are provided for some populations of Pseudanodonta complanata (Ziegler in Rossmaessler, 1835) and P. kletti (Rossmaessler, 1835) treated by Ukrainian reviewers as distinct species and by some West European authors as subspecies of P. complanata s. lato. Taxonomy, diagnostics and distribution of these forms are briefly discussed. Both of them proved to be rare in the studied territory and need protection.

The Round Goby Neogobius melanostomus (Pisces, Gobiidae) is Found Outside of its Area: Reasons, Distribution Rate, Probable After-effects. Smirnov A. I. - The round goby Neogobius melanostomus (Pallas, 1814) is a ponto-caspian species. Its native area occupies the shelf zona of the sea of Marmora, Black Sea, Sea of Azov and Caspian Sea. Its distribution in the Nîrth America, concretely in Great Lakes, is unique and due to unpremeditated introduction, especially to transportihg that one with ballast waters in bellies of vessels. The round goby was found hurmful as antagonist for aborigĺnal ichthiofauna and as a bearer of new parasites, and economically negative object. So that it is distined to be eliminated by all means. Besides of that there is a probability of reverse transporting this species with american ichthioparasites to our waters. According that, the ballast waters are destined of sterilising.

The Necydalis major Determaines the Obstacle Size Both Visually and Tactilly. Zolotov V. V. - The ability of Necydalis major Linnaeus to determaine the height of simple obstacles of "step up" tupe was investigated in the behaviour expertiments using video recording. It was shown that under field conditions in sunny weather the beetles determine the obstacle size visually from distance and use the UV light. Under laboratory conditions in the absance of UV light the beetles determine the obstacle height with the help of antennae.
