Morphological Characters Analysis, the Intergroup Phylogenetic
Relationships and Possible Outgroups of the Family Sphaeriidae (Mollusca, Bivalvia).
Korniushin A. V. — Scenaria of the morphological characters transformations
in freshwater molluscs traditionally included in the family Sphaeriidae are studied;
they are based on the phylogenetic analysis of 69 characters in 57 taxa. It is
shown, that the whole group is distinguished by synapomorphies in mantle musculature,
as well as by presence of complicated nephridia with many apomorphic features.
At the same time, many organs and structures (hinge, ligament, siphons, gills
and stomach) demostrate signs of reduction. Two traditionally recognized subfamilies
(Euperinae and Sphaeriinae), sometimes treated as families, differ in their reproductive
strategies (ovoviviparity and viviparity); monophyletic status of the groups character-ized
by sequencial and synchronous brooding (Sphaerium s. l. and Pisidium s. l.) is
also very probable. Some terminal clades correspond to the earlier suggested genera
and subgenera, and relationships between them are briefly discussed. Apo-morphies
of mantle musculature characterizing Sphaeriidae were found also in Poly-mesoda
(Geloina) — a taxon traditionally placed in Corbiculidae (one of the out-groups),
suggested as a possible ancestor of the studied freshwater bivalves.

The Phenotypic Diversity of Dreissena polymorpha
Population in Lake System Used as Cooling Water Bodies of Thermal Power Plants.
Protasov A. A. — The peculiarities of phenotypic structure of Dreissena polymorpha
Pallas population in Konin Lakes (Poland) was studied during five year. Lakes
are used as cooling water bodies for two thermal power plants. It was found that
several subpopulation groups with dif-ferent phenotypic structure exist.

Spreading of the Forms of Penduline Tit (Remiz
pendulinus) in the Lower Volga Re-gion. Zavialov E. V., Tabachishin V. G.
— Based onthe geographic analysis of mate-rial from largest zoological collections
of Russia and Ukraine and field investi-gations (1996–1999) the coexistence of
the two subspecies of Remiz pendulinus (the migrating — R. p. pendulinus and the
breeding one — R. p. caspius) in the northern part of Lower Volga region was revealed.
The peculiarities of plumage coloration as well as some morphological features
(e.g., the wing shape index) are consid-ered the most reliable characters differing
these forms. The presence of species with the plumage coloration characterising
the nominative subspecies in the popu-lations of R. p. caspius is considered to
be a manifestation of the geographic differentiation inside the species, while
the period of separation of the formerly joined inhabitants has not been completed
yet and obviously is being slowed due to the presence of natal and breeding dispersion.

Analysis of the Hybrid Zone between Fire-Bellied
(Bombina bombina) and Yellow-Bellied (Bombina variegata) Toads in Pre-Carpathian.
Yanchukov A. W., Mezhzherin S. V., Morozov-Leonov S. Yu. — In result of the
toads hybrid zone study in Pre-Carpathian, its principal correspondence to the
model of introgressive hybridization of the parapatric taxa is shown. The complex
analysis of the zone undertaken, by the genetic markers and the morphological
traits, has shown the high correlation degree of the hybrid and the belly-spot
indexes. The last allows for using this polygenic trait as the proved indicator
of the gene introgressions.

Interspecific Variability and Colouring Polymorphism
of Green Frogs Rana esculenta Complex (Amphibia, Ranidae) in Hybrid Populations.
Nekrasova O. D. — 8 phenetic traits have been distinguished featuring colour,
body and limb pattern of green frogs Rana esculenta complex. Mostly phenetic traits
of hybrids (R. lessonae¯ridibunda) occupy an intermediate position between paternal
species, although particular traits may be nearer to one of the paternal species
caused by dominant-recesive gene interactions, determining the colouring. It is
shown, that the level of fluctuating asymmetry of dorsal spots in hybrids exceed
indexes of paternal species. Evidence is given of possibility the of use of species
specific colour traits and body pattern in the diagnostics of paternal species
and hy-brids.
Key words: interspecific variability, colour polymorphism, hybrids, Rana esculenta
complex.

Radial Splitting and Deformation of the Coxa
in Mecoptera and Diptera. Frantsevich L. I. — Disposition of movable sclerites
in the middle coxa was observed on fresh and dró preparations of a leg passively
put at its retracted or protracted position. Objects: scorpion fly Panorpa communis,
crane fly Tipula lunata, horse fly Hybomitra lundbecki, and blow fly Calliphora
vicina. The coxa rotates about the subcoxal axis during protraction-retraction,
but simultaneously about the junction line down the hind rim of the coxa fused
with the pleurite. It is impossible to rotate a body about two non-collinear axes
without deformations. Indeed, mutual shifts of sclerites were observed in the
studied species. Splitting into movable sclerites is of adaptive value, because
bending of an elastic envelope is substi-tuted by movements in a chain built of
rigid links (coxites) hinged to each other. After separation of three coxites,
the coxa was preadapted to emergence of the in-racoxal joint and supination necessary
to put the coxa into the streamline position during the flight.

Two Suborders of the Cyclophyllid Cestods
— Skrjabinochorata, subordo n. and Linstowiata Spassky, 2001. Spassky A. A.
— The problem of phylogenetically close tapeworm families (order Cyclophyllidea)
integration into suborders, first put forward by Skrjabin (1939–1940), is discussed.
Two new suborders are added to the five already established: Linstowiata Spassky,
2001 (parasites of mammals) and Skrjabinochorata subordo n. (parasites of reptiles).
Finally, seven suborders are distinguished within the tapeworm order: Anoplocephalata
Skrjabin, 1933, Taeniata Skrjabin et Schulz, 1937, Hymenolepidata Skrjabin, 1940,
Davaineata Skrjabin, 1940, Nematotaeniata Spassky, 1958, Linstowiata Spassky,
2001 and Skrjabinochorata subordo n.

About the Acanthocephal Corynosoma arctocephali
(Acanthocephala, Polymorphidae) — the Parasite of Sea Leopard Hydrurga leptonyx
from Pacific Sector of Antarctic. Stryukov A. A. — The acanthocephal Corynosoma
arctocephali Zdzitowiecki, 1984 is recorded for the first time as the parasite
of the seals of the Pacific sector of Antarctica. Examined specimens are redescribed
and figured. This species is compared to C. evae Zdzitowiecki, 1984. Both C. evae
and C. arctocephali are supposed to belong to the same polymorphous species.

Rhipicephalus sanguineus (Ixodidae) in Crimea:
Ecological and Epizootologicaly As-pects. Evstaf’ev I. L., Tovpinets N. N.
— In Crimea, the range of R. sanguineus (Latreille, 1806) takes practically all
the peninsula, dominating in coastal ar-eas, which are characterised by a soft
marine climate. Main host R. sanguineus are pet and roving dogs, the contamination
which one reaches 50–70 and even 100%. Less often this tick parasitizes neat,
goats and sheep. The hedgehogs (Erinaceus concolor Martin) are recorded as the
hosts of the brown dog tick. R. sanguineus plays a determining role in natural
and especially in anthropogenic of the nidus of the Marseilles fever in Crimea.
